Two Cook County organizations dedicated to preserving tradition, the Gunflint Trail Historical Society and North House Folk School, joined forces to construct a new boathouse building for Chik Wauk Museum and Nature Center for installation next year. The boathouse will not be functional - but rather serve as a gallery for vintage boats, canoes, and other watercraft from Gunflint Trail history. Volunteers living along the Gunflint were quick to sign up for the special class and try their hand at constructing timber frames. Will Moore has the full story.
