The Minnesota State Patrol has released information on a single vehicle crash in Grand Portage over the weekend. Cook County Law Enforcement received a 9-1-1 call just before noon on Saturday, October 20.

Benjamin Shore, 27, of Hopkins, MN was driving a Chevy Silverado pickup, west on Highway 61 in Grand Portage when he lost control on icy roads and rolled his vehicle.

Grand Portage Fire Department, Grand Portage Ambulance and sheriff deputies responded.

Shore and two of his three passengers were not injured, but one, 64-year-old Shawn Kostelnik of Isanti, MN suffered non-life-theatening injuries and was transported to North Shore Health.

All of the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

At nearly the same time as this crash, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office received an unrelated call about an incident in Tofte.
Dennis Rysdahl of Bluefin reported that an employee had run into a light post at the Surfside Resort property. There were no injuries and no emergency response was required, but there was property damage.
