When people drive or recreate along Highway 61, it’s the major rivers that get most of the attention as they pour into Lake Superior. Most of the attention, that is, when compared to the many dozens of creeks and smaller streams that also flow into the Big Lake.
The fact is, not much is known about some of the smaller waterways flowing into Lake Superior.
However, researchers at Michigan Technological University are hoping their efforts will change that.
WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Amy Marcarelli, the lead researcher involved with the project who is also an ecosystem ecologist at Michigan Technological University.
