More concerns voiced over local tax survey
A survey was sent earlier this month to local property tax payers from a group calling themselves the “Citizens for an Affordable Cook County.” The Cook County News-Herald is also associated with the survey.
During a meeting of the Cook County Commissioners on Tuesday, Sept. 19, the director of the local Economic Development Authority raised a number of concerns about the tax survey. These sentiments followed other concerns about the survey voiced one week prior from a former elected official in Cook County.
Below is audio from the Sep. 19 meeting where concerns were expressed about the local tax survey.
WTIP reached out to the Citizens for an Affordable Cook County group seeking a response to the questions and concerns raised by other local residents about the survey.
Among the questions WTIP asked the group were:
Can you provide information about the process of determining which local residents would be sent a survey?
Was it random selection or did the survey organizers pick and choose residents who would get the tax survey?
According to the EDA director, some local residents or households received more than one survey. Does this sound accurate?
Also, who paid for the surveys, including printing and postage?
