Minnesota filmmaker and outdoor advocate Mark Norquist was recently presented the Sigurd F. Olson Award by the Backcountry Hunters & Anglers organization. During the BHA’s annual rendezvous, which this year was held on April 2 in Missoula, Montana, Norquist found out he won the award.

Among his many accomplishments in advocating for wilderness and ethical hunting and fishing in Minnesota, Mark produced a film last year titled “Fish out of Water.” The film featured Dave Seaton from Hungry Jack Outfitters, as well as a few Twin Cities chefs who all made a trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness near the Middle Gunflint Trail region. WTIP's Joe Friedrichs spoke with Norquist about his work and his reaction to winning the Siguard Olson award in 2016.
