State Rep. Steve Johnson from Michigan recently introduced a resolution calling on the National Park Service to establish a moose hunt on Isle Royale. Johnson and others supporting the legislation say the hunt would be a means of helping to control the island’s moose population.

With regard to bulls or cows being the target of hunters, Johnson told WTIP he envisions more of a draw for bull hunts. Ultimately, that would be up to NPS to decide, he added.

WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Johnson about his proposed legislation for Isle Royale.
