There have been numerous lynx sightings in Cook County and along the North Shore in the winter of 2017-18. Local photographers collected an abundance of media attention from pictures of lynx in the nearby forests.

On Monday, Feb. 19, a resident and pet owner in Thunder Bay found out that while lynx can make for good photographs, they are also wild predators.

Nowell Sleep was out for a brief walk with her small dog named Molly when a lynx attacked the dog near their home in Thunder Bay.

WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Sleep and shares this report.
