After an impressive and lengthy run at the top, Lake Superior is no longer the clearest of the Great Lakes.

In fact, what many claim is the greatest of the great lakes has dropped two spots on the clarity scale to number three, as lakes Michigan and Huron are both clearer than Superior, according to a new report published in the Journal of Great Lakes Research.

In this segment of the Lake Superior Project, WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs speaks with Robert Shuchman, co-director of the Michigan Tech Research Institute in Ann Arbor and a co-author of the study about water clarity in the Great Lakes. Also featured in this WTIP report is Mike Sayers from MTRI.
