Loons at Chik Wauk Nature Center caring for one hatchling

As reported by our Gunflint Trail correspondent Fred Smith, of Wildersmith on the Gunflint fame, there was some concern about the loons that had nested on the pond at Chik Wauk Museum and Nature Center. There was a period of time when the loons seemed to have vanished, leaving behind a newly hatched chick.  

This weekend we heard from Chik Wauk Site Manager Bonnie Schudy who reports that the loon parents are back and they are caring for one tiny young loon.
