A group of paddlers associated with the Star Tribune made a trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in June. The group included Tribune Outdoors Weekend section Editor Bob Timmons, as well as writer Tony Jones and his son Aidan. Also along for the trip were photographer Aaron Lavinsky and Grand Marais resident Brad Shannon.

Serving as the unofficial guide for the trip was Shannon, who stopped by WTIP recently and spoke with Joe Friedrichs about the journey along some of the border lakes in the BWCA, which started on Gunflint Lake. Details are being shared in the Star Tribune, the state's largest newspaper, for five consecutive weeks starting July 19.
