Local churches invite community to Christmas services

Many area churches host special services during the holiday season. There are opportunities for caroling, community potlucks and fellowship. The following churches have announced their holiday schedules.
Bethlehem Lutheran Church

Grand Marais
Bethlehem Lutheran Church will hold two Christmas Eve Services. A 5 p.m. service will include Bethlehem Lutheran’s senior choir and will be offered in a Lessons and Carols format. The 9 p.m. service will have traditional readings and a service of Holy Communion.
Bethlehem will celebrate Christmas with worship on Sunday, December 25 at the regular Sunday time which is 10 a.m.
Cornerstone Community Church

Grand Marais
Cornerstone Community Church will be holding a Christmas Eve worship service at 4:30 p.m. on December 24. Christmas Day worship will be at the regular time, 10:30 a.m.
Evangelical Free Church
2nd Ave. East and 5th Street
Grand Marais
The Evangelical Free Church will be hosting a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 5 p.m. on December 24. A Christmas Day Family Style Worship Service will be held Christmas Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
First Congregational Church - UCC
300 West 2nd Street
Grand Marais
The First Congregational Church - United Church of Christ is holding a Christmas Eve candlelit service on December 24 at 5:30 p.m. A potluck will follow. Christmas Day worship will be at the regular time, 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 25.
First Congregational Church will also be holding a Fourth Monday Meal on December 26. Community members are invited to come together to cook if they wish at 3 p.m., meal is at 5 p.m.
Holy Rosary – Catholic Church
Grand Portage
Christmas Mass will be held at 12 p.m. at Holy Rosary in Grand Portage.
Life in Christ Lutheran Church
2017 West Highway 61, Grand Marais
Life in Christ Lutheran Church is holding an Evening of Songs and Worship at 6:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, December 24. A Christmas Day Service of Word and Worship will be held at 10 a.m. on December 25.
Lutsen Evangelical Lutheran
Highway 61, Lutsen
Lutsen Lutheran Church will also be offering two Christmas Eve services on December 24 at 7 p.m. and 9 pm. Christmas Day worship will be at 9 a.m.
Mount Rose Community Church
Maamawiitawin – The Gathering Place
Grand Portage
Mount Rose Community Church will not be holding a Christmas Day Service, but will celebrate with a Christmas Eve worship at 4:30 p.m.
St. John’s Catholic Church
10 East 5th Street
Grand Marais
A Christmas Eve Mass will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church with caroling beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 24. Christmas Mass will be held at 9 a.m.
Seventh Day Adventist
Grand Marais (meeting at First Congregational Church)
The Seventh Day Adventist congregation will be holding services at the regular time, at 10 a.m. on Saturday. All members will be taking part in the worship.
Spirit of the Wilderness Episcopal Church
Maple Hill Church, County Road 54
Grand Marais
Spirit of the Wilderness will be holding a Christmas Eve candlelit service on Saturday, December 24 at 5:30 p.m. Services will be held on Christmas Day at 10:30 a.m.
Trinity Lutheran Church

Hovland
Trinity Lutheran will be holding its annual community potluck on Christmas Eve from 6 – 7 p.m. A Christmas Eve service with hymns and carols will be held at 7 p.m.
Zoar Lutheran Church
Highway 61, Tofte
A Christmas Eve Carols and Lights service will be held on December 24 at 4:30 p.m. There will be no worship at Zoar Lutheran on Christmas Day.
