Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run coming through Cook County Sept 20-21

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office is joining other law enforcement agencies from across the State in Torch Run for Special Olympics Minnesota Over 70 different agencies will relay the “Flame of Hope” more than 2,000 miles across Minnesota.

The Flame of Hope starts at the US/Canadian Border on September 20th at approximately 12:30 p.m. 

Runners and bikers will carry the Flame to Grand Marais with a walk, through downtown at 3:30 with special guests.  The Torch will leave town and make its way to Tofte. 

On the morning of September 21, the Flame will head to the Cook-Lake county line where it will proceed on its journey. 

WTIP Community Radio spoke with one of the Torch Run for Special Olympics organizers, Cook County Chief Deputy Will Sandstrom to learn more about the event. Their conversation is below.
