Fisheries supervisors from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources recently told WTIP they’ve been hearing concerns from a collection of North Shore anglers regarding commercial fishing operations along the North Shore.

These concerns from the public ranged from the proximity of fishing nets to land, numbers of fish being caught by commercial anglers and the fact some consider commercial fishing an unregulated industry in Minnesota. Cory Goldsworthy is the Lake Superior area fisheries supervisor for the DNR. He said all of these concerns from non-commercial anglers are understandable on the surface, but are likely a simple misunderstanding of the rules and regulations.

Goldsworthy stopped by WTIP and spoke with Joe Friedrichs about the concerns being raised regarding the commercial fishing industry on Lake Superior’s Minnesota waters.
