Cook County Auditor Braidy Powers has announced the results of the special election for Cook County Commissioner District 1. Taking the vacant commissioner seat is Robert Deschampe of Grand Portage with 254 votes. Jim Vannet of Colvill earned 148 votes.
The count will be confirmed at an election board of canvass on Friday, June 9 at 10 a.m. in the Cook County Commissioners' Room.
Once confirmed, new commissioner Robert Deschampe will take the oath of office at the June 13 county board meeting.
