Cook County is home to the largest network of cross-country trails in the nation with 400 kilometers of pristinely groomed tracks. Adam Dettman is a groomer for the Norpine Trail Association which encompasses the Deer Yard loop trails, the Hall-Massey trails, as well several trails within Cascade State Park. Much of the system is remote and in a heavy snow year like this one, grooming is especially challenging.

WTIP’s Barbara Jean Meyers spoke with Dettman to learn more about what it takes to maintain the trails.
