Human Development Center closes in Grand Marais

A community mental health center serving residents in Cook County has closed its doors.

The Human Development Center (HDC) officially closed Wednesday, Nov. 14. The closure is based largely on staffing issues and difficulties in hiring therapists to work at the local office.

The Cook County Public Health and Human Services Department had an association with the local HDC office.

Cook County PHHS Director Alison McIntyre stopped by WTIP to discuss what the closing of HDC in Grand Marais means for the community.
