Hospital lights stay bright despite public concern
There was a meeting of the Cook County Hospital District Board Thursday, Aug. 23. The August meeting is typically when the hospital board sets the levy for the upcoming year.
However, due largely to a change in scheduling, the board did not make a decision regarding the levy during Thursday’s meeting. The levy decisions are due Sept. 15, allowing the board more time to set the levy. They will do so at their next meeting, Thursday, Sept. 13.
Also discussed during Tuesday’s meeting was a plan to adjust lighting in the parking lot. There has been concern from some Cook County residents about the impact the new hospital lights with regard to 'light pollution' in Grand Marais.
WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Hospital Administrator Kimber Wraalstad about Tuesday’s meeting and other related discussions.
