Hospital levy to increase again in 2020, up 62 percent in two years
A levy increase of $200,000 in 2020 for North Shore Hospital and Care Center will contribute to an overall increase in taxes for Cook County property owners.
During a meeting of the North Shore Health Hospital Board Aug. 22, the board voted to increase the levy from about $1.1 million to $1.3 million. This follows an increase in 2019 for the hospital levy from $800,000 to $1.1 million. Combined, the levy has gone up $500,000 for the local hospital in two years. This is an increase of more than 62 percent in two years. These funds are collected from Cook County property owners and taxpayers.
WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Hospital Administrator Kimber Wraalstad about the levy increase and other hospital news, including the parking lot lighting situation at the local medical center.
