Highway department seeks public input via survey

The Cook County Highway Department is seeking input from the community to better understand the public’s expectations and preferences on the county’s road construction investments and maintenance services such as plowing, re-graveling, sidewalk maintenance, and vegetation control.

The Cook County Highway Department is responsible for 297 miles of roads. 

In 2019, the county levied $2.26 million to support current levels of highway department services. However, increasingly limited resources result in competing priorities, and the county is interested in hearing what is most important as the county faces decreasing federal and state support coupled with increased construction and maintenance costs.

Information gathered will be used to develop a long-range Transportation Plan. 
Survey responses are anonymous unless respondents choose to provide an email address to receive updates on the Transportation Plan. 
The survey and map will remain open for comments through July 14, 2019.
