Gunflint Mail Run Winners Announced

With temperatures hovering in the low single digits or below for most of the race, the Gunflint Mail Run on Saturday, Jan. 9 was deemed a success by the dozens of volunteers, event organizers and, of course, most of the mushers involved.



This year’s first place finishers are Ward Wallin of Two Harbors in the 12-dog race; and Dusty Klaven from Togo, Minnesota, in the eight-dog race. Other results from Saturday’s race are posted below.



Top five finishers in the 12-dog race:

1st place: Ward Wallin - 9:36:33 (9 hours, 36 minutes, 33 seconds)

 2nd place: Matt Schmidt - 9:37:55

 3rd place: Frank Holmberg - 9:42:24

 4th place: Leanne Bergin - 10:04:16

 5th place: Frank Moe - 10:05:49

1st place: Dusty Klaven - 5:42:44 (5 hours, 42 minutes, 44 seconds)
