Grand Marais Planning considers ordinance change for lodging downtown
The Grand Marais Planning Commission has been debating whether or not to change what sort of lodging is allowed in downtown Grand Marais for some time now. They will be tackling the subject again at their meeting at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21. The meeting is in the Grand Marais City Council Chambers at city hall and the public is invited to attend.
The planning commission will also consider approval of a preliminary plat from builder Anton Moody. The plat is of 2.74 acres which Moody would like to split into eight lots for single family homes with one outlot (green space). The plat, which Moody has dubbed Winterstone, abuts the Gunflint Trail and is adjacent to a lot currently owned by Moody in the Creechville area of Grand Marais.
WTIP's Rhonda Silence spoke with city staff and some members of the planning commission to learn more about the potential changes to zoning in downtown Grand Marais.
