The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says a fire broke out at a home located on 1713 Hegberg Road in Duluth around 10 Sunday morning.  Local fire departments and the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office found the house fully engulfed when they arrived on scene.
The fire was contained, but the house, which belongs to former Cook County residents David and Carmen Smith, is considered a total loss, according to the sheriff's office.

Authorities say no people were inside the home at the time, but the family’s two dogs were inside.

The cause of the fire is uncertain at this time, and is under investigation.

The Clifton Fire Department, Normanna Fire Department, Two Harbors Fire Department, Two Harbors Ambulance, Lakewood Fire Department, Air Force Fire Department, Canosia Fire Department, and St. Louis County Public Works responded to the call.
