Forest Service plans for busy Labor Day weekend in the Boundary Waters
Labor Day weekend is a busy time along the North Shore and surrounding area. And among the most popular locations in the region will be the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. A majority of the permits to enter the BWCAW during the holiday weekend are reserved, which means camping spots could involve searching and portaging.
WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Jon Benson, the recreation specialist on the Tofte and Gunflint Ranger Districts, about traveling safely and efficiently during peak seasons in the BWCAW.
