Federal workers on furlough, including those in Cook County, returned to work Monday, Jan. 28 following the record-long shutdown of the government. Approximately 50 local residents who are employed by the U.S. Forest Service were impacted directly by the shutdown, according to local Forest Service personnel.

WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Gunflint District Ranger Michael Crotteau and Tofte District Ranger Ellen Bogardus-Szymaniak about the shutdown and staff returning to work in late January.
