In the end, it was another Erin.

Musher Erin Letzring is the winner of the 2021 John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon. This was her first time competing in the iconic North Shore Race.

Letzring crossed the finish line in Cook County off Mineral Center just after 6:20 p.m.

Musher and defending Beargrease champion Ryan Redington was close behind and came in second.

Letzring currently lives in Skagway, Alaska, though she grew up in the Duluth area.

Here's a short video of Erin and her team in the maple woods north of Lutsen, MN ahead of her eventual race win. Thanks to Greg Nichols, for sharing the clip with WTIP!

On Monday, musher Erin Schouweiler was the first person to cross the finish line in the John Beargrease 120-mile race. This was her second consecutive victory in the mid-distance race.

Throughout the day on Monday, Gunflint Trail-based musher Erin Altemus was in the lead for the full marathon. Altemus took fourth place in this year’s race.
