The Cook County Law Enforcement Center received a 9-1-1 call at 8:30 Monday morning, October 1, reporting a structure fire on First Avenue East in Grand Marais.

The Grand Marais Fire Department and Cook County Ambulance responded and were on scene by 8:35 to find no open flames. The fire department inspected the residence and gave the all clear by 8:45 a.m.

It appears the cause was electrical. The meter on the exterior of the house caught fire and burned a line running into the basement of the house.

There were no injuries and the home did not suffer significant damage.
