Election filing open now for township elections

Citizens in Lutsen, Tofte and Schroeder interested in serving on their respective township boards need to file now to be eligible for election in March 2018. The filing period to serve on town boards opened on January 2 and closes on January 16. 
 
There is a filing fee of $2. To file, citizens need to contact the town clerk. 
 
All of the townships have openings for a three-year supervisor seat and a two-year clerk position. In Schroeder, the incumbent supervisor is Bruce Martinson and the clerk is Doug Schwecke. 
 
In Tofte, the supervisor position is currently held by Sam Crowley and clerk is Barb Gervais. 
 
In Lutsen, the incumbent supervisor is Christine Ordemann and clerk is Sharon Hexum-Platzer.
