Community members were invited to an open house at the Nordic Star housing development on Tuesday, September 18. Officials from the Cook County/Grand Marais Economic Development Authority, One Roof Community Housing, USDA Rural Development and local government agencies were all on hand to take a look at the houses intended to help fill the gap in workforce housing. 

Also on hand were nearby residents, wanting to learn more about their neighbors. Jim Philbin of One Roof Housing was there to talk to prospective buyers and to explain the land trust model. 

Also at the open house was Chuck Payton, representing Odyssey Resorts, which has become a partner with One Roof Housing in bringing housing to the North Shore.

WTIP's Rhonda Silence spoke with Jim Philbin and Chuck Payton about the "Opening Doors" project.
