If you’ve read any outdoor news or stories of fishing and hunting in northeastern Minnesota in the Duluth News Tribune during the past four decades, there is a good chance you were reading the work of Sam Cook.
As of Friday, April 27, the byline on outdoor news stories in the Duluth newspaper is going to be someone different. After 38 years, Cook is retiring from his post with the Duluth News Tribune.
Though based in Duluth, Cook’s columns and outdoor reports occasionally brought him to Cook County and the Gunflint Trail so that he could chase lake trout and walleye.
WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Cook about his retirement from the Duluth News Tribune.
