Cook County Commissioner Heidi Doo-Kirk says she is looking to expand the means for direct communication between local residents and the elected officials serving on the county board.

One means of doing so is a new concept Doo-Kirk will introduce Sept. 25 that she’s calling ‘coffee with the commissioner.’ From 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the last Wednesday of every month, Doo-Kirk will be in the conference room at the Cook County Whole Foods Co-Op in Grand Marais to meet with local residents or anyone with an interest in Cook County government.

Doo-Kirk made the announcement following a series of town hall meetings that were held in early September throughout the county to discuss the 2020 budget and other county news. Most of these town halls were well attended by local residents and property owners, including Doo-Kirk’s district meeting at the Mid-Trail Fire Hall on Sept. 4.

Doo-Kirk stopped by WTIP and spoke with Joe Friedrichs about the upcoming ‘coffee with the commissioner’ format that will take place Sept. 25 at the co-op.
