Director of child development center talks border separations

Hundreds of children have been separated from their parents as a result of a new policy that calls for “zero tolerance” regarding people who try to enter the United States illegally — even those who are requesting asylum in the U.S.

As a result, there is mounting concern about the impact this separation from their parents could have on the children involved.

WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Megan Gunnar, the director of the Institute of Child Development in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota, about this topic.
