December arrives with county still uncertain on 2018 budget

There was a meeting of the Cook County Board of Commissioners Tuesday, Nov. 28. Near the end of Tuesday’s meeting, the commissioners and county administrator talked at length about the 2018 county budget. This followed Monday night’s Truth in Taxation meeting and months of discussion about the budget.

It appeared the commissioners were going to take a vote during Tuesday’s meeting to set the 2018 levy. However, Commissioners Myron Bursheim and Bobby Deschampe said they were not comfortable with a 19.9 increase.

At the conclusion of the budget talks, the commissioners agreed to table a vote on setting the levy until their next meeting, which is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 12.

WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs shares this report on the county board’s ongoing discussion of the levy and 2018 budget.
