Dark Sky Festival to be held in Cook County

Cook County is home to some of the darkest skies in the country.  This weekend, Dec. 14 and 15, Visit Cook County is organizing a celebration of our dark skies with the first Annual Dark Sky Festival.  Events include the return of the UMD Marshall W. Alworth Traveling GeoDome to Cook County, dark sky photography presentations, and more.

A full schedule of events can be found here.

In one of the two audio segments below, WTIP volunteer Shawna Willis speaks with staff from Visit Cook County about the festival.  In the other, WTIP volunteer Brian Neil speaks with Joel Halvorson, director of the Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium at UMD, to find out more about the Traveling GeoDome.
