There are a good number of local residents and visitors to the North Shore who are planning to ski, snowmobile or ride fat-tire bikes on the local trails over the Christmas holiday and break.

The team at Visit Cook County have a very user friendly page on their website with up-to-date trails reports and conditions.

The page is very detailed and comprehensive, but in general,  most of the trails for skiing have been groomed and are in great shape heading into the Christmas weekend. Up the Gunflint Trail most ski trails are reporting between 5-10 inches of snow or more. They have been groomed and conditions seem to be improving every day.

For snowmobiling, some trails in Cook County have been groomed and cleared of deadfall. These include Lutsen trails and trails up the Gunflint.

And for winter biking, those conditions seem to be improving every day. The Norpine trails were reported to be a little too soft early in the season but should be improving heading into the weekend with a cold snap expected, in addition to the recent snowfall.

Have a safe experience to everyone riding and enjoying the trails over Christmas and the holiday season. And have fun!
