County supports EDA choice to sell lots for assisted living facility

In a move they hope triggers economic growth in the community, the Cook County Board of Commissioners agreed to support the potential development of an assisted living facility in Grand Marias.

During a meeting of the county board on Tuesday, June 20, the five Cook County Commissioners agreed to unanimously support the decision to support the sale of two lots in the Cedar Grove Business Park to Spectrum Health, Inc. The action follows a similar motion of support that came last week from the Grand Marais City Council.

The lots, across the Gunflint Trail from the Cook County Law Enforcement Center, will be sold for $1.

WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs reports on this story.
