County prepares for 2018 property-valuation process

In 2018, staff from the Cook County Assessor’s Office will again be reviewing all properties in the City of Grand Marais. This will be part of the county’s regular five-year cycle of reviews as is required by the Minnesota Department of Revenue.

County staff are also making plans for the Grand Portage area of the county and will work with the Grand Portage Tribe to update the taxable records in that area. All of this review work will be conducted during May through October and will include all of the commercial properties as well. Any new construction permits will also be reviewed during this period.

If you pay property taxes or have any interest in owning property in Cook County, the interview posted below with WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs and Cook County Assessor Todd Smith could be of value to you.
