County moves forward on plans to expand community center
The Cook County Board of Commissioners agreed to spend approximately $14,500 to research expansion plans for the community center in Grand Marais.
During a meeting of the county board on Tuesday, July 11, Community Center Director Diane Booth explained the possible expansion plans for the community center. Booth says both County Administrator Jeff Cadwell and Public Health and Human Services Director Josh Beck have suggested using the community center expansion as a means to open more child-care options for local residents.
And while space for child care is one option for the expansion for the community center, Booth says there could be a variety of uses for the center involved with the project. In addition, the expansion could diversify the use of the community center.
