County to host town halls to discuss 2020 budget
As a part of the annual budget process, Cook County has scheduled a series of town hall meetings to discuss the 2020 preliminary budget. Citizens are welcome to come and participate at any of the following town hall meetings:
Tuesday, September 3, Districts 2 & 3 meeting • Cook County Community Center, 5:30 p.m… These are the districts for commissioners Dave Mills and Myron Bursheim;
Wednesday, September 4, District 4 meeting • Schaap Community Center, 5:30 p.m... Commissioner Heidi Doo-Kirk;
Thursday, September 5, District 1 meeting • Grand Portage Log Building, 6 p.m… Commissioner Bobby Deschampe;
Monday, September 9, District 5 meeting • Birch Grove School, 6:30 p.m.… Board Chair Ginny Storlie.
There are a number of factors that could impact the 2020 budget and this year’s planning process for the county, including how much the county receives in federal payment in lieu of taxes for land within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Again, these town halls are public meetings and citizens are welcome to participate in all of the town hall meetings and bring questions for the commissioners and county staff.
