County to host series of public meetings this week

There are several meetings that involve some or all of the Cook County Commissioners taking place April 9 and 10. The topics range from where the county could spend millions of dollars, to a proposed communications tower at the end of the Gunflint Trail.

Below are the specifics regarding time and location of these meetings:

In February, the Cook County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution to issue capital improvement bonds, for a not-to-exceed amount of $9.8 million. Part of the process is to hold a public hearing on the county’s Capital Improvement Plan.

The public information session will be held on Monday, April 9 at 6 p.m. in the commissioners’ room of the Cook County Courthouse. Representatives from the bonding firm Ehlers Inc. will be on hand to give a brief presentation on the purpose and the process of issuing Capital Improvement Bonds.

The Cook County Board of Commissioners will be taking action on the proposed Capital Improvement Bonds, at their regular meeting on Tuesday, March 10.

In addition, there is a public information meeting on the proposed Seagull Lake ARMER tower project scheduled for Tuesday, April 10, at 6 p.m. at the Schaap Community Center. Cook County Emergency Management & Public Information, Gunflint Trail Volunteer Fire Department, MNDOT Statewide Radio Communications Division, and US Forest Service will have representatives at this meeting to answer questions.
