County to host informational meeting on bonding projects

In February, the Cook County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution to issue capital improvement bonds, for a not-to-exceed amount of $9.8 million. Part of the process is to hold a public hearing on the county’s Capital Improvement Plan.
 
The public information session will be held on Monday, April 9 at 6 p.m. in the commissioners’ room of the Cook County Courthouse.
 
County Administrator Jeff Cadwell explains that projects include road and bridge improvements with an expected cost of $7 million dollars. Those projects will be funded by the local Transportation Sales Tax authorized by the Cook County Board of Commissioners in September 2016.
 
Other capital improvements totalling approximately $2.4 million include:

• roof and window improvements at the courthouse
• window improvements at the Law Enforcement Center
• Public Works improvements, including the construction of a new public works facility in Hovland
• Park improvements to the Community Center outdoor park
• and various other eligible projects, including lighting upgrades in eligible county facilities.

 
Representatives from the bonding firm Ehlers Inc. will be on hand to give a brief presentation on the purpose and the process of issuing Capital Improvement Bonds.
 
The Cook County Board of Commissioners will be taking action on the proposed Capital Improvement Bonds, at their regular meeting on Tuesday, March 10.
