County board receives concerns about communication

The process of responding to concerned citizens during public meetings and outside of official county sessions was a topic brought forward by Colvill resident Arvis Thompson during a meeting of the Cook County Commissioners on Tuesday, Oct. 10.

At the same meeting, Commissioner Heidi Doo-Kirk spoke about the process of addressing comments from the public during meetings of the county board and responding to constituents.

In addition, Board Chair Jan Sivertson said meetings of the county commissioners follow a schedule and procedure and responding to questions during the public comment period is not something the board does.

There is typically a public comment period at the start of each meeting of the Cook County Commissioners, while the commissioner concerns segment is at the end of each meeting. All meetings of the Cook County Commissioners, which include both the public comment periods and commissioner concerns, are available on the county’s website.

WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs shares more on this topic in the audio posted below.
