Cook County keeps winter skating trend alive with ice rinks
Skating on ‘wild ice’ was all the rage in Cook County to start the winter of 2020-21. As snowfall and slush started to blanket some of the region’s lakes, a collection of local businesses kept the trend alive with their own ice rinks for guests or the general public.
Visit Cook County Executive Director Linda Jurek spoke with WTIP’s Mark Abrahamson about skating rinks currently open throughout the county. Other topics discussed during the Jan. 5 update include the Norpine fat tire winter bike race and conditions on area ski trails.
Ice Skating Rinks currently open at the following locations in Cook County for winter 2021
o Birch Grove
o Community Center in Grand Marais
o Gunflint Lodge
o Bluefin Bay on Lake Superior in Tofte
o Lutsen Resort (Guests only)
o Bearskin Lodge on Gunflint Trail (Guests only)
o Caribou Highlands (new this year)
