Cook County High School teams do well at state Envirothon
Cook County High School sent two teams to compete at the Minnesota state Envirothon competition on May 21 on Lake Shetek in Slayton, Minnesota. There were 23 teams competing from 18 different high schools. The Cook County teams placed 4th and 7th. The Cook County "purple" team, which placed 4th overall, got the second highest score of the team on the oral presentation they've been preparing for months with the help of Coach April Wahlstrom and volunteer community experts. The Cook County "black" team got the highest score of any team on the Forestry section of the competition.
This is the 7th consecutive year that at least one CCHS team has made it to state, and the second consecutive year that two Cook County teams have made it. The CCHS purple team consisted of Amelia Roth, Aurora Schelmeske, Hazel Oberholtzer, Robin Henrikson, Doran Acero, and Chloe Blackburn. The CCHS black team consisted of Andy Kern, Lucy Callender, Abby Prom, Leif Anderson, and Claire LaVigne.
