As the summer of 2018 begins to wind down, business owners and community leaders on the North Shore continue to look for innovative and reliable means to attract employees.
Referred to as “Plan B,” the effort aims at recruiting underemployed workers from elsewhere and students in small-town high schools, as well as developing plans to start a culinary school program on the North Shore. There is also an effort to bring workers from Puerto Rico to work in Cook County.
In this interview, Cook County Chamber Director Jim Boyd and local resident Brian Sherburne talk with WTIP’s Jay Andersen about the status of this effort, including a delegation of Cook County residents traveling to Puerto Rico from Aug. 18-25.
