Cook County Courthouse reopens to the public June 1

The Cook County Courthouse and other county buildings will reopen to walk-in traffic Tuesday, June 1.

Following recent changes in federal and state guidelines, those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will not be required to wear a face covering in county buildings. However, unvaccinated staff and visitors are expected to wear a face covering while conducting business in county facilities. Those who have not been vaccinated remain at much higher risk of getting sick with COVID-19 and passing the virus to others around them.

Cook County will continue to ask visitors to its facilities to follow social distancing and hand hygiene protocols. County staff who work directly with the public have been instructed to wear a face covering when serving residents who are also wearing one.

Signage at the entrances to county buildings will advise staff and visitors not to enter if they are experiencing any symptoms associated with COVID-19. Those experiencing any of the above symptoms are advised to consult their personal physician to determine if a COVID-19 test is indicated.

Meetings of the Cook County Board of Commissioners are expected to continue in an online format during the month of June. It is anticipated that the board will resume in-person meetings in July.
