As previously reported by WTIP, Commissioner Dave Mills will be the board chair of the Cook County Commissioners for 2021.

The decision to appoint Mills as the board chair came during the organizational meeting of the commissioners Jan. 5.  The commissioners nominate and ultimately vote amongst themselves annually for who will serve as chair and vice chair.

Serving as vice chair for 2021 is new Commissioner Ann Sullivan.

WTIP spoke with Mills ahead of the first official meeting of the county board for 2021 on Jan. 12. Topics covered include his thoughts on being selected as the board chair, some of his goals and thoughts for 2021 for the county commissioners and a summary on what Mills has learned about local government during his first two years in office.
