Join Jay Andersen, Barbara Jean Johnson, and their guests for WTIP’s First Thursday Community conversation: “Suicide – not an option,” 6-7 p.m. on May 6.
 
Nearly a million people worldwide commit suicide each year. There are anywhere from 10 million to 20 million suicide attempts annually. About 30,000 people reportedly kill themselves each year in the United States. It is this country's 11th leading cause of death.
 
We’ll be talking about the issue of suicide on the local level and covering strategies for prevention and warning signs.
