The Cook County Recycling Center in Grand Marais will hold a waste electronics collection Saturday, May 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  There will be another waste electronics collection at the Tofte Transfer Station on the Sawbill Trail, Saturday, June 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Stop by for an opportunity to recycle old computers, TV’s and other electronic equipment.

Most electronics contain hazardous or toxic materials and should not be discarded in the trash. Safely recycling these devices helps keep substances like lead and mercury from being released into the environment. In addition, valuable material including precious metals can be recovered from old electronics, and used to make new products.

Items accepted include computers, TV’s (all sizes), servers, scanners, printers, fax machines, VCR & DVD players, cell phones, stereo components, satellite receivers, video cameras, small power tools, and answering machines.

Items not accepted include toasters, curling irons, light bulbs, air conditioners, appliances, printing equipment, manual typewriters, and adding machines.

There is no charge to recycle computers, laptops, and servers.  There is a charge for other items.  For a price list go to the Cook County website.
