Volleyball Vikings head to Duluth for semi-finals

The Cook County Vikings girls’ volleyball team has advanced to the semi-final round of the Class 7-A playoffs.

They will meet the Cherry Tigers at 6 o’clock this evening at Duluth Denfeld. The Vikings come into the game at 21 and 2 while Cherry is 21 and 3. The match will be broadcast live on WTIP with Bob Carter and Kelly Swearingen calling the sets.

The winner of the Viking-Tiger match plays the winner of tonight’s second game at Denfeld on Saturday at 4 PM for the Section 7-A title. The second game tonight features 21 and 5 South Range against 18 and 8 North Woods.

And, on Friday night, the Kelley High School Mariners from Silver Bay take on the McGregor Mercuries in the Section 5, Nine-Man football championship game at McGregor. Tune in to WTIP at 6:55 PM as Jeff Asmussen calls the plays as they happen.

The winner of that game goes on to the State Playoffs against the Section 8 winner November 12 at St. Cloud State University.
