Viking volleyball play continues tonight -- football Saturday
Cook County and Silver Bay travel to Hermantown tonight to meet in the Section 7-A volleyball playoffs.
The number one seed Vikings beat Duluth Marshall 3 to 0 on Wednesday night to advance to Hermantown. The fifth-seeded Mariners stopped the fourth seed Cromwell in its playoff bid by winning 4 to 1. The Vikings go into tonight’s match with a 19 and 2 mark while Silver Bay is 11 and 10 for the year.
The Cook County-Silver Bay game will be broadcast on WTIP starting a 5:45. Bob Carter and Kelly Roberts will be in Hermantown to give you the pre-game information followed by all the action starting with the first serve at 6.
The winner of tonight’s game will face the winner of the Cherry-Deer River matchup at 6 PM, Wednesday, November 7 at Duluth Denfield. Cherry goes into tomorrow night’s game at 20 and 3 while Deer River is 13-14 and 2. They play following the Vikings-Mariners’ match.
And in Section 7-A football…Number three-seeded Cook County has its work cut out for them tomorrow. The Vikes go to second seed Deer River tomorrow for the 2 PM semi-final round game against the Warriors. Deer River is ranked number four in the final Associated Press’ Minnesota Class A football poll.
The winner of Saturday afternoon’s Cook County-Deer River game will meet the winner of the Ogilvie’s game tomorrow with number one seed Braham. Ogilvie is 8 and 1 going into the game while Braham is 7 and 1 along with a number 5 state ranking in that final AP poll.
